Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) was overjoyed in tonight’s Coronation Street when not one but two of his family members revealed their engagement plans.

While searching for engagement cards in the Kabin, Ryan revealed to Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) that Ali Neeson had proposed to his girlfriend.

Ali was Michelle Connor’s biological son, who was switched with Ryan at birth after a hospital mix up.

He was first introduced to Michelle’s life in 2007, before reconnecting with her after moving to Weatherfield in 2018.

In 2020, he left the cobbles after a vicious feud with Gary Windass (Mikey North).

Now, it seems things are going well for the GP, with Ryan expressing his shock that his partner had agreed to marry him.

Ali wasn’t the only Connor with a proposal on the mind though, as Carla Connor (Alison King) later admitted to Ryan that she planned to propose to girlfriend Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).

Carla and Lisa have been together since November 2024, and Lisa attempted to take their relationship to the next level by asking Carla to marry her earlier this year.

However, the proposal was a spur of the moment thing that stemmed from Lisa’s grief over Craig Tinker’s death, so Carla told her that it wasn’t the right time.

Now though, the couple are in a good place, having just bought their first house together.

Prior to Carla’s chat with Ryan, it became clear just how well suited she and Lisa are when the detective organised for them to attend a life drawing class, knowing that Carla wanted to go.

Carla was touched by the gesture, especially as she knew it wasn’t really Lisa’s thing.

When their time at the class was brought to an abrupt end by a disaster at the factory caused by Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin), Lisa appreciated how Carla handled the situation without snapping at Betsy.

As Carla admitted that she was starting to feel like Betsy was her own daughter, Lisa was thrilled.

With things going so well for the couple, it was no surprise that Carla felt ready to take the next step.

Arriving home, Ryan grew instantly suspicious when he found Carla rooting through Lisa’s jewellery box.

Carla was quick to explain that she was trying to find out Lisa’s ring size, as she wanted to pop the question.

Ryan was clearly over the moon at the news as he pulled Carla into a hug, with the factory boss admitting that she hadn’t been this happy in a long time.

Later this week, Carla is set to get her proposal plan underway, as she picks up a delivery of the engagement ring.

She then heads to the Rovers, where she gives the ring to Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) and asks her to drop it into Lisa’s champagne glass.

As Carla calls Lisa to the pub, will she suss out what is going on?

On screen, Lisa and Carla have already joked about an Ibiza wedding, and actress Vicky Myers was very much on board with the idea when I spoke to her at the British Soap Awards earlier this year.
