This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) caused panic for Carla Connor (Alison King) in tonight’s Coronation Street, though she was completely unaware.
Carla made the big decision earlier this week that she was going to propose to her girlfriend, much to Ryan Connor’s (Ryan Prescott) delight.
Of course, she is now tasked with keeping her plan a secret – not an easy feat when the partner in question is a detective.
The decision came after a rocky few months in their relationship.
Carla and Lisa first made things official in November last year, and despite facing more obstacles since then than most couples face in a lifetime, they are still going strong.

Within weeks they had moved in together and a few months later Lisa had asked Carla to marry her.
However, Carla knew that it had been an off the cuff remark, triggered by the death of Craig Tinker.
He, like Lisa’s late wife Becky, was killed on the job, which stirred up plenty of emotions for the detective.
Because of this, Carla turned her down, but made it clear that she would say yes in future, when the time was right.
It seems that time is now, as Carla spent tonight’s episode waiting for Lisa’s engagement ring to arrive.
In one scene, Carla feared Lisa had rumbled her when she pulled up a jewellery website and presented the factory boss with a page full of rings.

Thankfully, it quickly became apparent that Lisa was oblivious to Carla’s engagement plans, but was actually conjuring up a surprise of her own for daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin).
She explained how she had planned on gifting Betsy Becky’s necklace when she turned 18, but mused that it would be more of a present from Becky than her.
Instead, she wanted to buy Betsy a ring which incorporated Becky’s fingerprints.
Eager for Carla’s opinion, Lisa ran the idea past her, worried it may be too macabre.
However, Carla assured her that Betsy would love it, putting Lisa’s mind at rest.

Will Lisa be as enthused when Carla gets down on one knee and presents her with her own ring?
Later this week, the iconic character is set to reach out to Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) for help making the special moment memorable.
Prior to summoning Lisa to the Rovers, Carla hands Glenda the ring and asks her to slip it into her girlfriend’s champagne glass.
Will everything go to plan?
