Coronation Street has confirmed why Bernie Alahan will exit for her honeymoon alone amid the Dev wedding drama.
Last night’s episode saw the couple finally tie the knot – though not without a few hitches, including Bernie facing a burglar on the big day that turned out to be grandson Brody Michaelis.
She later collapsed during the planned ceremony due to allergies, with her and Dev finally tying the knot later on in hospital.
At the end of the episode, Aadi finally admitted the truth to his dad about the bills he had amassed in the shop, and that Bernie had put together a cheap wedding so that they could use Auntie Rani’s money to pay off the debts.
Aadi will face questioning from the authorities next week, as he returns home after an intimate encounter with Amy Barlow only to find policewoman Jess alongside Dev and Asha.
In more scenes airing next week, Bernie suggests to Dev that they postpone their honeymoon in order for Dev to build bridges with his son.
He agrees that it’s a good idea, but insists that his new wife still go on the trip on her own as the rest and relaxation would be good for her, before Bernie gives Dev a loving kiss.
“Despite the chaos of the wedding day, Bernie and Dev are still united as a couple,” our Corrie insider said. “They want nothing more but to celebrate their love on holiday, but Bernie recognises that Dev needs to put Aadi first.
“As she heads off on their honeymoon alone, will Dev be able to repair his fractured relationship with his son before it’s too late?”
