Current co-executive producer of Days of Our Lives, Noel Maxam, teased what type of drama would be coming up on the show.
The stakes continue to rise on Days of Our Lives. The death of John Black rocked Salem to its core, but helped save the life of Bo. Johnny’s trial continues to rage out of control, and with all the twists and turns, it could go in any direction. And Xander and Philip’s merging of Titan with DiMera Enterprises is a shocking turn, the effects of which are being felt by everyone. Just when you thought some of the characters might find peace, the show’s co-executive producer, Noel Maxam, revealed there are many more thrills to come, so prepare yourself.
Maxam-izing the Drama
In March, DAYS co-executive producer Janet Drucker exited the job, and senior producer Noel Maxam was promoted in her place. He spoke with Soaps.com about what to expect in upcoming storylines, explaining that there will be no shortage of surprises in Salem for the foreseeable future. And the writers have been hard at work to deliver those shocks.
Maxam stated that everyone works hard “to elevate, strive and find out what these characters will do, what they’re capable of, who they’re trying to push, surprise, who they want to get revenge on, who they are desperately in love with.” The main goal is for the show to consistently be original and reinvent itself. But also to remain multi-generational.
Sages of Our Lives
Maxam explained that every generation has a wise person who helps guide the younger folks. He referred to them as “sages,” and stated that “they understand where you come from and give you a different perspective and allow you to sort of stretch and see.” These wise people will help guide the younger generation.
By the same token, he stated that fans should expect to see these sages also continue to grow, learn, and evolve. He stated that in doing so, these experiences will help them “stretch and grow themselves and allow themselves to love, to feel revenge, to feel anger.” This will also help them to appreciate things more, and “marvel at the existence of every moment in the days of their lives.”
