Devious Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) is set to cause tension between popular Coronation Street couple Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) as a new spoiler video shows.
The teen is currently recovering from a gunshot wound which left her unable to feel her arm – something that she has been struggling to come to terms with.
This has led her to lash out at those around her, most recently stealing Tracy Barlow’s (Kate Ford) van after confronting her about her involvement in Rob Donovan’s revenge plot.
When Rob was on the run last month, he took Tracy, Carla and Lisa hostage and threatened them with a gun.
Lisa’s detective training kicked in as she wrestled him for the weapon, but she accidentally pulled the trigger in the struggle, which resulted in Betsy being caught in the crossfire.
When Lisa admitted responsibility to Betsy, the teen was more angry about the fact that Lisa had put herself in danger, pointing out that she needed her.

‘Lisa went in to protect Carla, and Betsy loves and respects Carla, but at the end of the day she’s Lisa’s daughter, and I just think she wants her mum to remember that,’ actress Sydney Martin explained.
Betsy has continued to struggle in the wake of her injury, with doctors warning that she could be permanently paralysed in one arm.
‘She’s paralysed in the arm, so she goes back to being a bit younger and her mum really mummies her, and I think Betsy really enjoys that, because she’s getting that one-on-one time with her mum that I think she’s definitely lacked.

‘Whereas I think Carla sees it as Betsy needs to grow up a little bit! So I think it causes a bit of a strain in the dynamic between the three of them.’
However, in upcoming scenes it becomes clear that perhaps Betsy may be overplaying just how bad her injury really is…
Having been tasked with keeping an eye on Betsy, Carla is clearly growing tired of running around after her, especially as her requests become more demanding.

With Betsy distracted by the telly, she slips up when she takes the pepper mill from Carla and uses both hands to season her lunch.
As soon as Carla points out what she’s seen, Betsy sends her lunch flying – just as Lisa returns home.
Betsy storms off, as Carla is incredulous that she’s been faking her paralysis.
Devious Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) is set to stir up major trouble between Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) in upcoming Coronation Street scenes — and it’s all caught in a dramatic new spoiler video.
Still recovering from a gunshot wound that left her struggling to move her arm, Betsy has been battling not only the physical effects of her injury but also a growing resentment toward those closest to her. Her frustration recently boiled over when she stole Tracy Barlow’s (Kate Ford) van after confronting her about her role in Rob Donovan’s revenge plot.
Viewers will recall the terrifying hostage ordeal, when Rob, on the run from the law, held Tracy, Carla, and Lisa at gunpoint. Lisa bravely wrestled the weapon from him — but in the struggle, the gun went off, accidentally injuring Betsy. Although Lisa took full responsibility for the accident, Betsy was more hurt by her mum’s willingness to put herself at risk rather than prioritizing her.
“Lisa went in to protect Carla, and Betsy loves and respects Carla,” actress Sydney Martin explained. “But at the end of the day, she’s Lisa’s daughter, and she wants her mum to remember that.”
Since the shooting, doctors have warned that Betsy could face permanent paralysis in her arm, and Lisa has been doting on her more than ever. Betsy seems to relish the extra attention — but not everyone is convinced she’s being entirely honest about her condition.
Carla, left to look after Betsy while Lisa is out, soon grows frustrated as Betsy’s demands become more frequent — and more ridiculous. However, Betsy’s carefully crafted act unravels when she makes a crucial mistake.
While distracted by the television, Betsy absentmindedly takes the pepper mill from Carla and uses both hands to season her lunch — a move that Carla immediately clocks.
When Carla calls her out, Betsy reacts by throwing her food across the room, just as Lisa walks in and witnesses the chaos. Betsy storms off, leaving Carla fuming at the revelation that the teenager has been exaggerating her injury all along.
Will Lisa believe Carla’s accusations? Or will Betsy manage to twist the situation even further to drive a wedge between the two women?
One thing’s for sure — Betsy’s deception is about to cause serious fallout on the cobbles.
