Emmerdale delivered a huge twist tonight as it finally revealed who newcomer Celia Daniels is working with.
Celia, played by Jaye Griffiths arrived in the Dales at the end of June and initially clashed with Moira and Paddy Dingle.
Viewers know that Moira has been struggling since the death of Nate Robinson and is dealing with financial offers.
Initially, Celia had wanted to rent Butler’s Farm from Moira but her offer was rejected.
After being turned down, Celia changed tact and started befriending Moira and pitched her an idea for the farm’s next revenue stream – supplying a local spa hotel with meat.
While Celia has always seemed on the sketchy side, tonight (Tuesday, 19 August) the true extent of her underhandedness was revealed.
Tonight, Celia paid Moria a visit on the farm to tell her that the spa loved their products so much and want more, though Moria is still waiting for payment from their first delivery.
Celia told an excited Moria that the deal was going to be big, causing her to think about ramping up production.
However later that day Celia visited Moria again, telling her the hotel had rejected their latest delivery because the chef felt the products were overpriced.
While Moira and the hotel had signed a contract there was a cooling off clause meaning they could just sever ties, leaving Moira having to write off thousands of pounds.
After phoning the hotel, Celia managed to get them to pay half of what they owe, with Celia offering the full amount to Moira.
The collapse of the deal led Moria to think that it would be best if she cut her losses and got out of farming altogether.
But in a shocking twist, the episode ended with Celia visiting Joe Tate at Home Farm, revealing that she had been working with him and Kim all along in an effort to drive Moria out.
Celia reported to Joe and Dawn that Moria was in so much financial trouble that “it’ll be all over in about a week.”
Joe then shared the terms of the deal Celia had made with Kim, which were that she could have six months rent-free with the option to lease any land if she wants.
After Celia left, Joe told Dawn that Moria had brought it all on herself as she could have taken the easy way out, adding: “Kim always gets what she wants.”
Speaking about her character’s latest development, Celia actor Jaye explained: “The Emmerdale audience are finally starting to see the true extent of Celia’s personality.
“She’s great fun to play but she is ruthless and there is plenty more to come.”
