The staff were selfless and completely dedicated to the animals,” he shared.

One of the most memorable moments of his visit was when the staff at The Dogs Trust named a dog after him. “They named a chocolate Labrador Olly,” Olly laughed. “It was just so lovely. I got to meet him, and it was a really special

time.”  

Olly’s connection with dogs goes beyond charity visits. In 2024, his life was changed when he brought home Nellie, a small dog that quickly became a part of his daily life. At the time, Olly was going through a tough personal and professional patch, and he admits that Nellie arrived at just the right moment. “She came along when I was having a bit of a tough time, personally and professionally,” he explained. “Having her around helped me focus on something other than myself. It was a beautiful moment in my life.”

Olly, who has always been open about his experiences and challenges, noted that having a dog can be a powerful way to cope with difficult emotions. “So many people find that if they suffer from depression, for example, a dog is a perfect way of taking their attention into a different realm. It allows them to care for something external to themselves,” he said. While his situation was different, Olly acknowledged the therapeutic value of caring for an animal. “It’s all about this beautiful, innocent little life that needs me to function to care for it. It became a really

uplifting time.”  

In addition to his personal growth, Olly’s role in Casualty continues to evolve.
