A Close Bond Between Michelle Tsiakkas and Jamie Borthwick

Strictly Come Dancing star Michelle Tsiakkas has opened up about her enduring friendship with Jamie Borthwick, following his suspension from EastEnders. He still actually messages me saying that he misses it.”

Jamie Borthwick’s Suspension from EastEnders

Jamie, who has played Jay Brown on EastEnders since 2006, was suspended from the soap in June after an alleged incident in which he used a disabled slur while filming Strictly Come Dancing at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. The BBC condemned the language used, emphasizing that it was “entirely unacceptable” and did not reflect the values upheld by the network.

Following the suspension, Jamie issued an apology, acknowledging the use of the derogatory term and expressing regret for not fully understanding its impact. He stated, “I am deeply embarrassed to have used the term and directed it in the way I did.”

Michelle Reflects on Her Time with Jamie

In addition to her close friendship with Jamie, Michelle spoke about how the experience of dancing with him had positively impacted his life. “He’s honestly so passionate about dancing. I can’t believe it. He is trying to dance with everybody and do his routines with everyone,” she shared.
