Casualty has confirmed that a terrifying drug crisis will engulf the hospital in the huge new boxset.
BBCâs medical drama today (10 June) unveiled the trailer for âSupply and Demandâ, a 12-part series which will delve into the âharrowing realities of a drug crisisâ from various perspectives both within the hospital and outside.
The dramatic trailer, which can be viewed above, showcases the strain that the crisis puts on both the hospital staff and law enforcement agencies, with the line between professional and personal life being blurred as secrets are harboured.
âAn interruption to the illegal drug supply chain puts pressure on the entire Emergency Department, who are also under strain from clinical drugs shortages,â reads the logline. âWhilst addicts scour the streets, hospital medics struggle to fill prescriptions.
âA daring crane rescue leads to personal tensions in the paramedic team reaching boiling point, leaving everyone wondering who they can trust, as questions are raised about Iainâs future,â it continues, with Flynn, Ngozi and Nicole also set to be a part of the storyline.

The saga is described as a âpowerful explorationâ of the âhuman spiritâ as it touches upon themes of âaddiction and the pursuit of hopeâ, with viewers set to witness the âpoignant tollâ that is placed upon the paramedics as they âgrappleâ with their âpersonal demonsâ.
While âSupply and Demandâ is the next part of the drama, the soap could soon undergo some changes in the near future, with the BBC recently announcing that they would welcome pitches from prospective producers.

The broadcaster did state, however, that any ideas would need to incorporate an in-universe setting shift to Wales, with the move aimed to align with the fact that the soap has been filmed in Cardiff for over a decade.
âWe are asking tenderers to include authentic representation of Wales and reflect the reality of the Welsh NHS,â read a document from the BBC. âThis is not about radical change of the show, although the move to Welsh portrayal will mean a new fictional hospital based in Wales.â
Casualty airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and now streams first on BBC iPlayer, where episodes are released at 6am on the day of transmission.
