Casualty fans have been left in tears over the latest episode of the BBC medical drama thanks to its ‘devastatingly sad’ storylines.

BBC Casualty viewers have been united in their praise for the show’s impactful storylines showcased tonight.

The beloved medical series Casualty made its comeback on Saturday, May 3, featuring Stevie (portrayed by Elinor Lawless) grappling with her Stage 2 ovarian cancer diagnosis.

Although Stevie stands a good chance of recovery, her friend and single mother Cara (played by Laura Pitt-Pulford) faces a bleaker prognosis. Just as she is about to be discharged from the hospital, she collapses.

Cara breaks the news to her daughter Olive that she won’t be returning home, leading to Olive angrily calling her mother a “liar” and storming off. Tragically, before they can reconcile, Cara dies.

Stevie shares a poignant moment with Olive, comforting her, and as they say goodbye, Olive expresses her gratitude to the doctor for “being our friend”.

There’s also a touching scene where Stevie receives an apology from Siobhan (Melanie Hill), who regrets that Stevie couldn’t bid farewell to Rich (Michael Keogh), with whom she had an affair.

In another storyline, Rida (Sarah Segarri) is battling the trauma of being sexually abused by Russell (Robert Bathurst). She finds the courage to approach Flynn (Olly Rix) to report the abuse but stops short when he reveals that Russell is his father-in-law, causing Rida to keep silent.

Additionally, Ngozi (Adesuwa Oni) ends up at the hospital with her young son after he gets into a scuffle that started when another boy asked if he could kiss him.
