Doin’ It Big!IT WILL SHOCK YOU!! ‘Yellowstone’ refuses to die as latest spinoff announced by CBS

A familiar face is back in the saddle in the latest Yellowstone spinoff series, with the youngest Dutton sibling leading the pack.

Following the departure of series lead Kevin Costner midway through the fifth and final season, Yellowstone officially came to a close on December 15, 2024 after six years on TV. Yet with prequel series 1883 and 1923 drawing more and more eyes, the ever-growing Yellowstone universe seemed far from done. After rumors swirled earlier this spring of a new follow-up series in the works, CBS confirmed this week that Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton would be at the helm of the latest Yellowstone creation, picking up following the series finale.

The newest series, Y: Marshals, follows Kayce Dutton leaving his ranch hand days behind him and tapping into his Navy SEAL training as a member of the U.S. Marshals, Entertainment Weekly reported on Wednesday, May 7. Grimes is reprising his role, as well as serving as executive producer alongside series creator Taylor Sheridan and fellow EPs David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari.

Dutton’s latest career endeavor comes after he sold off a substantial portion of the Yellowstone Ranch in the original series’ final episode. Alongside Dutton’s newest U.S. Marshals teammates, the series will center around his balancing act of family obligations and professional duties, as well as the strains of the profession, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Aside from Y: Marshals, other Yellowstone-adjacent series in development include The Madison, a project starring Michelle Pfeiffer and following the McIntosh family as they relocate from New York City to central Montana. Paramount first detailed those series plans in May 2023 and has yet to unveil a release date, but reports suggest a late 2025 premiere.Beth & Pip is another prequel reportedly in the works, following Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, the daughter and son-in-law of Kevin Costner’s John Dutton. No word yet on if they’ll also appear in Y: Marshals.
