Ex-EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison revealed Bobby was so nervous filming his debut, he literally pooed himself before meeting his co-stars.

“I Was So Nervous, I Pooed Myself”

Soap legend Bobby Davro had one of the most unforgettable first days in EastEnders history — because nerves quite literally got the better of him.

His former co-star Cheryl Fergison, best known as Heather Trott, revealed the comic’s now-infamous mishap in her memoir Behind the Scenes.

According to Cheryl, Bobby was due to meet her and Linda Henry (Shirley Carter) outside the Elstree Studios before filming began. But instead of the usual introductions, he made quite the entrance.

A Flashy Arrival Turned Awkward

“We were told Bobby was arriving early so we could meet him before shooting,” Cheryl recalled. “Next thing we know, an Aston Martin comes veering through the security gates. It was very flashy and stylish.

“Linda and I stood up, ready to say hello, when suddenly Bobby leapt out, ignored us completely, and bolted through a side door. We thought it was really rude!”

The pair sat back down, slightly miffed, with no idea what had just happened.

The Truth Comes Out

Half an hour later, Bobby finally reappeared, all smiles and energy, and immediately apologised.

“‘Honestly, girls,’ he said, ‘I wasn’t being rude. I’ve just had an absolute nightmare. I was so nervous about filming that I… well… I pooed myself. In the car.’”

Cheryl said she and Linda burst into laughter, only for Bobby to add that the vehicle was “full of it” and he was waiting for someone to come and valet it.

By then, both women were crying with laughter.

A very embarrassing mishap

From Mishap to Diamond

What could have been an embarrassing disaster instead became one of the funniest icebreakers in EastEnders history.

“From that moment on, Bobby was a total diamond,” Cheryl said. “Funny, kind, generous, and a brilliant laugh on set. He’s still a great friend to this day.”

She added she didn’t feel bad sharing the story, since Bobby has never shied away from cheeky humour himself: “Nothing is off limits with Bobby, which is why I love him.”
