Emmerdale spoilers follow from Friday’s episode (1 August), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.
Emmerdale airs a major change in the Sugden family feud tonight – as Robert goes grovelling to John.
Robert is forced to swallow his pride and make a huge apology to John as he desperately scrambles to keep himself out of prison.
Friday’s episode sees John recover in hospital after his brother viciously attacked him with a wrench.
The manipulative medic confirms to his husband Aaron and sister Victoria that Robert was to blame for what happened. Twisting the knife, he also lies that the incident was unprovoked.

The only ray of hope for Robert is that John hasn’t yet given a statement to the police – and that’s where Victoria comes in…
Victoria urges her shamed sibling to get down to the hospital and beg their brother not to name him as the attacker.
Robert scoffs at the idea, given that he and John hate each other’s guts, but Victoria points out that he has no choice but to forget the feud.
Later, Robert seems remorseful as he arrives at the villain’s bedside and brands himself an “idiot” for lashing out.

He adds: “Look, I don’t blame you if you never want to be near me again. But hating me enough to get me banged up in prison? I don’t see it.
“That’s why I’m begging you to throw me a lifeline here.”
Sensing an opportunity, John orders his arch-rival to drop his obsession with winning back Aaron if he wants to stay out of jail. Can the brothers strike a deal, and if so, could such a fragile truce really last?
Fans can see exactly how the conversation unfolds when the episode airs tonight at 7.30pm on ITV1, or it’s streaming early now on ITVX and YouTube.
