Emmerdale has inserted a last-minute scene into Monday’s (28 July) episode following England’s win in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
The Lionesses triumphed over Spain in the final of the football competition on Sunday (27 July), defending their title with victory during a dramatic penalty shootout.
The extra scene, which is included in the versions released early on streaming, sees Bob Hope popping in to The Woolpack to find a worse-for-wear Mary Goskirk trying to tidy up all the flags that have been strewn all over the place.
Mary may have been feeling rough from all the gin, but she admitted that “the hangover’s worth it, seeing those brilliant girls bringing it back home again.”

She added that she was “so proud” of the team, especially for carrying on despite their World Cup loss to the same opponents, and that the whole country was rooting for them.
“And they’re going to keep on doing it over and over again,” Bob said. “There’s no stopping ’em now, ’cause you know what lionesses do?”
“They ROAR,” Mary excitedly replied, although the noise set her hangover headache off.
Although the scene was added in last-minute, it was actually filmed in advance in anticipation of the team winning.

“With the nation getting behind the Lionesses, we knew the fictional characters in Emmerdale would’ve been doing just the same so it felt right and proper that we should reflect this result on the show,” the soap’s boss Laura Shaw said.
It’s not the only soap to insert a last-minute scene in the last week alone, as EastEnders referenced both the Lionesses’ semi-final win over Italy and the death of Ozzy Osbourne in the same episode.
