EastEnders confirms the return of Anthony Trueman for Patrick and Yolande’s wedding

There is yet another EastEnders character making their way back to Albert Square, all in celebration for Patrick and Yolande Trueman’s impending nuptials.

The BBC soap has confirmed that Patrick’s son Anthony will return to Walford this summer as actor Nicholas Bailey reprises his role.

Bailey last reprised his role in 2014, when Anthony rushed to his father’s side when Patrick (Rudolph Walker) suffered a stroke. But now, he’s back on a more positive note, at least that’s how it seems to begin with.

EastEnders has teased that Anthony’s visit will come at a significant moment for Patrick, which means Anthony stays longer than originally planned.

EastEnders’ executive producer Ben Wadey said: “It’s great to welcome Nicholas back to the EastEnders family to reunite Patrick with his son. But Anthony’s plan for a brief return to surprise his father ends up with him staying longer than he expected when he uncovers what has been going on in the Trueman household.”

Bailey has already began filming with his scenes to air later this summer, and he couldn’t be more excited to reunite Anthony and Patrick once more.

“It is an unexpected treat to return to EastEnders and I’m full of gratitude to get the opportunity to revisit the character of Anthony,” Bailey said in a statement.

He continued: “It’s wonderful to work with Rudolph Walker again – he’s such a big part of my journey as an actor and I loved filming my first scenes with him after so long. I’m excited to see what the passage of time has done to Anthony and explore his relationship with Patrick at this stage in their lives.”

Anthony’s return to an iconic Walford family is one of many under Ben Wadey’s leadership, with the likes of Michelle Ryan (Zoe Slater) and Jake Wood (Max Branning) both reprising their roles as they return to shake things up for their families.
