EastEnders confirms Avani’s surprising baby decision in early iPlayer release

EastEnders spoilers follow from Tuesday’s episode (29 July), which is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer but hasn’t yet aired on BBC One.

EastEnders has confirmed a surprising decision in Avani Nandra-Hart’s pregnancy plot.

Last night’s episode saw Avani standing firm in her decision to have an abortion, despite Suki Panesar-Unwin’s offer to raise the baby.

As Suki continued to pressure her granddaughter, Avani pointed out a big flaw in her plan – proving that Suki’s wife Eve doesn’t even want kids. Avani accused Suki of acting in her own selfish interests and booked the termination.

In today’s episode, Suki apologises and offers to accompany Avani to the clinic. However, Avani suspects Suki is just trying to change her mind and rejects her ‘support’.

As the teenager heads off, persistent Suki interrogates Barney Mitchell about the appointment and catches up with Avani on the tube. She insists Avani shouldn’t go through the trauma alone.

At the clinic, Suki explains the finality of her granddaughter’s decision, and questions her reasoning for the abortion. She tells her that the whole family would help out with the baby, but Avani stands her ground.

The pair discuss the abortion that Suki’s daughter Ash had when she was younger, with Avani accusing Suki of wanting to “fix history”. However, Suki explains that she also wants a fresh start with Eve, and claims they would be “great parents”.

In a last ditch attempt to change Avani’s mind, Suki offers to pay the “expenses” for the pregnancy. At first, Avani refuses but eventually she relents, telling an elated Suki: “You can have my baby.”

How will Avani’s parents Priya and Ravi react to the news?
