Eve Panesar-Unwin throws a spanner in the works on EastEnders next week, as she takes pregnant Avani Nandra-Hart to one side to discuss Suki’s plan to raise the teen’s baby.

Wednesday’s episode, which is streaming now on iPlayer, sees Suki convince Eve that they should discuss having a child together.

As the couple celebrate, Avani interrupts and assumes that Suki has told Eve about the plan to raise the schoolgirl’s baby as their own. It’s clear that this was a mistake, as a shellshocked Eve immediately wants answers…

The drama continues in follow-up scenes next week, as Eve wonders whether her family members are really doing the right thing.

“Avani is young and scared, while Suki is desperate to make up for what she feels were her failings as a mother with her other kids,” our EastEnders insider explains.

“With emotions running high, Eve wants to make sure they are not about to make a big mistake.”

With Avani’s 12-week scan approaching, things are becoming more real for all involved as Suki tries to persuade Eve that raising the baby together would be good for them.

So, when Vinny arrives back from his sister Ash’s wedding, Eve uses this as an opportunity to find some time with Avani.

With Suki having had a big row with her son over her parenting history before Vinny left, Eve encourages Suki to talk to him. But while Suki is busy elsewhere, Eve spends time alone with Avani to see if she can find out how the teen really feels about Suki’s plan.

Meanwhile, when the scan arrives, there’s also the idea of seeing the baby for the first time – could that turn the situation on its head once again?

Whatever happens, it’s clear that they won’t be able to keep Avani’s pregnancy secret for much longer. Not only will mother nature soon begin to make what’s happening pretty obvious, all the sneaking about and clandestine conversations are bound to raise suspicion before too long.

In fact, there’s a close shave next week when, after Avani’s trip to the hospital, her mum Priya finds a receipt in her jacket. Eve is forced to help Avani lie and tries to cover, and while they appear to get away with it, how long can they really keep the secret?

“If Eve, Suki and Avani do all agree to push ahead, there could be another obstacle in their way in the form of Priya and Ravi,” our source adds.

“How will they feel about their granddaughter being raised by her great grandmother? We may see another big battle ahead, and it might not be one that Suki is able to win…”
