BBC set to launch ‘gripping’ new drama series this weekend

BBC has confirmed a new “gripping” series will be available to watch on BBC One and iPlayer this weekend. Hit BBC series Casualty is launching its next boxset miniseries titled ‘Supply and Demand.’

The award-winning series, Casualty, first aired on the BBC in 1986 and the TV show is recognised as one of the longest-running primetime medical drama series’ in the world.

The show follows a team of young doctors and nurses at Holby City Hospital as they dedicate themselves to treating patients while also dealing with any medical emergencies that may come their way.

‘Supply and Demand’ is the third of Casualty’s miniseries’ which is set to air on Saturday, June 14. The “gripping” twelve part series follows the emergency department as it tackles the harsh reality of the UK drug crisis.

The BBC teased the show’s harrowing topics in the synopsis. It says: “An interruption to the illegal drug supply chain puts pressure on the entire Emergency Department, who are also under strain from clinical drugs shortages. Whilst addicts scour the streets, hospital medics struggle to fill prescriptions.

“A daring crane rescue leads to personal tensions in the paramedic team reaching boiling point, leaving everyone wondering who they can trust, as questions are raised about Iain (Michael Stevenson)’s future.

“Meanwhile, Flynn (Olly Rix) struggles to connect with his daughters amid the chaos of the emergency department, while Ngozi (Adesuwa Oni) and Nicole (Sammy T Dobson) confront the devastating emotional legacy of addiction.”

As the series unfolds, viewers will witness the serious toll on the paramedics as they tackle with their own personal demons while striving to save others. Supply and Demand tackles serious themes of addiction, teamwork and the pursuit of hope.
