EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders star Alice Haig has warned of a “dark” future for her on-screen family as their troubling new storyline continues.
Alice, who took over the role of Vicki Fowler earlier this year, promised much more “drama” to come as her character settles back into Albert Square with her partner Ross Marshall and his teenage son Joel.
Viewers have recently seen the early stages of a big storyline involving Joel, who secretly filmed himself having sex with Avani Nandra-Hart early last month. The filming took place without Avani’s knowledge or permission.
Joel has also proved to be a bad influence on Tommy Moon by repeatedly expressing misogynistic views and encouraging him to watch explicit content online.
Speaking to us on the red carpet at the British Soap Awards about what’s to come, Alice commented: “Well, all the drama that we’ve had, double it, triple it, quadruple it! It’s going to be dark.”
She continued: “It’s really amazing and there’s so much care taken to tell the story in the right way and to really honour the kids and young people and the parents who are going through situations like this, because really it’s a massive issue and a huge thing.
“So fingers crossed that we can reach some people with the story. I know as much as you, really, and we’re going to see how it unfolds.
“It’s exciting actually. There’s going to be some amazing, explosive stuff coming, I think.”
Separately, Vicki had a big moment on screen last month as she exposed the truth about Zack Hudson being Barney Mitchell’s biological father.
Vicki revealed all in a fury, as she believed that Zack had been killed by the Mitchell family. Zack later turned up alive and well and realised the cat was out of the bag…
Alice said: “I really enjoyed it. It was an amazing storyline and the director was incredible. He’s called Chris McGill and he just had a vision – he knew what he wanted and it was fantastic to be a part of.
“I of course think she did the right thing because I am Vicki! But I wonder if there was a more delicate way she could have done it…”
