Soap comebacks were the biggest talking point this week, with news reaching us that several familiar faces will be reappearing soon.
It’s not just characters heading back to our screens, though – EastEnders‘ iconic Queen Vic pub will be back in action next week, just in time for an important day of celebration in Walford.

1. Emmerdale confirms Dylan’s return

Emmerdale reintroduces a fan favourite in the coming weeks, as April Windsor’s friend Dylan heads back to the village.
Show bosses are bringing back talented newcomer Fred Kettle, who plays Dylan, by popular demand after the success of his initial stint in the show.
Producer Laura Shaw announced the news at an Emmerdale press event in Leeds this week, which had Digital Spy in attendance.
“[Dylan’s] going to be bringing his past back to the village with him,” Shaw explained. “And that’s going to cause huge problems for April and the wider family there.
“We’ve got a couple of exciting new castings that are joining us for that story, but I’m not allowed to tell you who they are. Watch this space, because it’s very exciting.”

2. Emmerdale lines up huge trouble for John

Emmerdale‘s newest villain John Sugden looks set to face a testing time in the next few weeks, which could ultimately see his sinister secrets come to light.
Speaking at the soap’s press event, show boss Laura Shaw confirmed plans for Aidan Moore to come out of his coma and for Nate Robinson’s body to finally be found. All bad news for John!
Unconfirmed reports in the tabloids have also suggested that Robert Sugden could be making a reappearance soon. Whatever happens, it looks like John’s story is one to watch closely in the coming weeks.

3. Emmerdale’s big Joe Tate whodunit – with nine sinister suspects

In a busy week for Emmerdale news, the ITV soap also announced plans for a new whodunit storyline as scheming Joe Tate gets his long-awaited comeuppance.
Storm clouds are gathering for Joe as a party is thrown at Home Farm for Lydia Dingle’s 50th birthday next week.

4. Coronation Street return ahead for Joel Deering

Former Coronation Street star Calum Lill is also making an unexpected return to Soapland.
According to tabloid reports, Calum has been filming new scenes as Joel Deering, despite the villain’s death late last year.
Show sources are currently keeping tight-lipped on whether Joel will reappear in flashback scenes, a vision or dream sequence.

5. Coronation Street’s Christina to cause more chaos

Coronation Street fans haven’t seen the last of Christina Boyd following her daughter Daisy Midgeley’s dramatic departure from the cobbles.
This week, it was revealed that Amy Robbins is reprising her role as Christina for another stint later this year.
Fans can undoubtedly expect further fireworks between Christina and Jenny after their animosity in recent weeks. Could this be Jenny’s chance to regain the upper hand, or is she going to face even more misery?

6. EastEnders re-opening date for The Vic revealed

EastEnders‘ iconic Queen Vic pub has been strictly off-limits after the 40th anniversary explosion storyline in February, but it’ll be back to its former glory next week.
The BBC soap has confirmed that Linda Carter, Elaine Knight and George Knight team up to re-open the pub just in time for the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
This episode airs on Thursday 8 May.

7. Hollyoaks stars on Lucas’s future after diagnosis

Hollyoaks stars Oscar Curtis and Kieron Richardson gave a great interview to Digital Spy this week following the start of a big new storyline for their characters Lucas and Ste Hay.
Fans were shocked this week as Lucas was diagnosed with a brain tumour and disregarded doctors’ advice to undergo surgery to remove it.
Oscar told us: “Lucas just wants to put his head in the sand. He wants to distract himself from the harsh reality of being faced with such a traumatic experience – finding out that you’ve got a brain tumour at such a young age.
“I think there’s been so much negativity and craziness around Lucas’s life for the last year. He had the whole Carter situation, he went to young offenders, then his soulmate Dillon had a kid with Lucas’s sister Leah. They’ve also now had the drugs situation.
“So when Lucas’s diagnosis is revealed, he just feels like: ‘What more can happen?’ For Lucas, he’s given up, really.”

8. Home and Away proposal drama for Cash

Home and Away‘s Cash Newman plans to propose to his on-off partner Eden Fowler in upcoming episodes, but his timing couldn’t be worse.
In recent episodes on air in Australia, Cash promised Eden that he’d bide his time before finding the perfect moment to pop the question.
Cash decides that the time has arrived in next week’s Aussie episodes, but the latest group of troublesome River Boys are plotting against him. Could he face terrible danger before he gets his chance to pop the question?
The scenes air on Channel 5 in the UK in mid-June.
9. Neighbours reveals Aaron’s next love interest
