Cole Hauser Shuts Down Rumors About Beth and Rip’s Yellowstone Spinoff

Ever since “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan confirmed the series would end with its fifth season, fans have been eager for answers—especially about what’s next for two of the show’s most beloved characters, Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton. In April 2025, Paramount made headlines with news that a spinoff starring Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly was officially in the works. But now, Hauser is setting the record straight: one major detail that’s been widely reported is flat-out wrong.

Cole Hauser Denies His ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoffs’ Biggest Announcement So Far
Although previous reports—including a statement from Paramount executive Chris McCarthy—claimed the upcoming series would be titled “Dutton Ranch,” Hauser says that simply isn’t true. In a recent interview with FOX News Digital, the actor made it clear that the working title was never official.

“Well, first of all, it’s not Dutton Ranch … That’s not the name of it.”

This clarification comes after weeks of buzz surrounding the spinoff, which is expected to premiere in fall 2025. Hauser emphasized that while the name remains undecided, the show itself is very much happening—and he and Reilly are putting in the work to make it great. He described the process as challenging but rewarding, and said they’re focused on delivering a series that lives up to everything fans loved about Yellowstone.

“We can expect the same that we’ve been doing for the last seven years. Kelly and I are going and working our [expletive] off trying to create something special,” he emphasized.

Sheridan is developing the new series alongside producer David Glasser and McCarthy, and will follow Rip and Beth in the same present-day timeline as the original series. While plot details remain under wraps, the spinoff is expected to be a direct continuation of the Yellowstone story, not a reboot or prequel.

What to Expect from Beth and Rip’s Next Chapter
Kelly Reilly, who played the fiery and complex Beth Dutton, hasn’t revealed much about the spinoff publicly, but she has hinted at her interest in returning. In previous interviews, she said she was intrigued by the idea of exploring Beth in a different emotional space—one shaped by peace rather than chaos. For a character who’s spent years in survival mode, that kind of evolution could offer powerful new material.

Cole Hauser Shuts Down 1 Rumor About His Yellowstone Spinoff

Speaking with Town & Country ahead of the “Yellowstone” series finale, she shared: “I loved this season. There were some really different territories to explore, so I’m not clinging to her. I’m happy to put her back in her padlocked box.”

Before teasing her interest in a Beth and Rip spinoff: “I am definitely interested in Beth, and who she is after some things have happened. Who is she in peace? As an actor you’re like, ‘Ooh, let me at that,’” and joked: “Wouldn’t it be fun to watch Beth go to therapy?”

The show may also feature other familiar faces from the “Yellowstone” cast, although no official announcements have been made about additional characters or casting. Still, with Sheridan at the helm and Hauser and Reilly fully on board, fans have every reason to be optimistic.

This spinoff is just one piece of the ever-expanding “Yellowstone” universe. CBS is developing another new series starring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, set to premiere in 2026. Meanwhile, “The Madison”—featuring Michelle Pfeiffer—and “1944,” a continuation of the historical prequels “1883” and “1923,” are also in development for Paramount+.
