Casualty has confirmed Rida Amaan’s return to the ED with one big change.
In the last boxset, ‘Internal Affairs’, nurse Rida started a new role as part of Russell’s surgical team. The dream job soon turned into a nightmare after Russell sexually assaulted her during an operation.
What happened to Rida, and whether she would leave the hospital, was left up in the air and she has been absent from the first two episodes of the current boxset ‘Supply and Demand’.
The soap has confirmed that Rida is staying in Holby and the nurse will be back in the ED this week starting her new job as a Band 6 nurse, which is a promotion from her previous job.

With the promotion, this means that Rida is now in a superior role to her besties Jodie and Cam, which looks like it might cause problems for Rida on her first day.
In scenes set to air this Saturday (28 June), Rida’s first day as a Band 6 nurse starts off with a celebratory bang as Cam, Jodie and the nursing team shower her with party streamers.
Though Rida looks and sounds the part, she becomes increasingly overwhelmed throughout the day with requests from Siobhan and Flynn, while also facing resistance from Ngozi and Jodie to her instructions.

After speaking to Siobhan, Rida is reminded that she shouldn’t be afraid to put her foot down with the nursing team.
When Jodie decides she wants to keep treating Cleo, a pregnant heroin addict whom she’s built a friendship with over several hospital visits, she asks Rida to cover her new post in resus.
Rida is able to cover Jodie for a while, but with lots of other tasks on her agenda, it’s not ideal. Will she be able to take a stand or will she crumble under the pressure?
Casualty airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and now streams first on BBC iPlayer, where episodes are released at 6am on the day of transmission.
