You ain’t sly, Bold & Beautiful. Uh-uh. If the show thought that it was going to cause jaws to drop with its July 29 reveal that Luna’s Aunt Li was secretly keeping the double and almost quadruple murderess alive, it failed. Utterly, we’re sorry to say.
Even if Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke) hadn’t accidentally tipped off viewers off to the fact that Lisa Yamada would still be airing into September — long after her character was “fatally” shot — the audience saw the twist coming a mile away. How could it not? It’s the same one that the soap pulled three years ago when Luna’s father Finn was said to have died when in reality mom Li had spirited him away to recover in a makeshift hospital room that she’d ordered from Acme.
“Raise your hand if you are shocked that Luna is alive,” thesoapgoddess tweeted. “Anyone? Anyone? Beuller? Beuller?”
“Li saved [Finn] from the dead, and now she is just doing the same thing with Luna,” noted Samantha_IT. Does no one at University Hospital keep track of where its “dead” bodies go? Or is it like, “Ya want it? It’s all yours!
“Oh, there’s still a pulse? Close enough to dead. See ya, Dr. Li!”
On Facebook, Emeryl Baldwin Wright suggested that the surprise was so obvious that “Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder could see that.” Added Steph_11and78 on X, “Everyone already guessed that Li had Luna stashed away somewhere. The writing… is so predictable.”
At least the eyebrow-raiser that was barely an eyebrow-archer means that Bold & Beautiful will be keeping Yamada around… and maybe even giving her lines that don’t equate to “Dang it, Steffy, you’re so mean!” and “I want my daddy!” As SapphoMedusa tweeted, “It would have been a mistake to let that actress go.” (As it is, she’s already in such high demand that she has another role booked.)Plus, we can’t wait to see Liam’s reaction to finding out that the psycho who nearly killed him before his “inoperable” brain tumor could has been given a new lease on life. That oughta be… What’s the word? Ah, yes. Priceless.
