SHOCKING NEWS !!! An unlikely ally comes to Patrick’s aid in EastEnders as he calls off the wedding

Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) receives some unexpected support ahead of his EastEnders wedding next week.

As viewers of the BBC One soap have seen, Patrick has suffered with panic attacks in the wake of an attack in his own home.

After scoring a 6k win at the bookies, the good news was overheard by desperate Oscar Branning (Pierre Moullier), who staged a break-in and foolishly knocked the pensioner to the ground.

In the aftermath, the teen was left guilt-ridden and tried his best to show to the Truemans that he was a good egg. But that just wasn’t enough – he knew that he had to come clean.

The family was left divided in the aftermath, with Denise Fox (Diane Parish) supporting her partner Jack Branning’s (Scott Maslen) decision to let the matter be brushed under the carpet, while her sister Kim (Tameka Empson) agreed with Patrick’s son Anthony (Nicholas Bailey) – Oscar should be behind bars for the incident.

Yolande remained firm – although she thought speaking to the police was the best idea, she wanted Patrick to make that decision.

Meanwhile, Howie Danes (Delroy Atkinson) was left guilt-ridden, knowing that he’d blackmailed Oscar into handing over Patrick’s betting shop winnings for his own financial gain.

As a result, he had to ensure no more action was taken, or his cover would be blown.

A torn Patrick later dropped charges after a heart to heart with Howie, fearing that Oscar could turn to a life of crime like his late son Paul (Gary Beadle).

Later, Oscar came to apologise and extend an olive branch in the form of a bottle of whiskey. It became clear that, although Oscar was able to recover quickly from the incident, it was going to have a lasting effect on Patrick.

‘I’m not the man I was. I can’t move on,’ he explained.

He then reiterated his concerns to Yolande and the family, saying: ‘You’ll understand if I say I want to postpone the wedding.’

In upcoming scenes, the day of the ceremony arrives, with Denise and Kim preparing to turn guests away. Despite that, they put on a brave façade and organise the venue with some surprising support from Oscar.

Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) is optimistic that Patrick will have a last-minute change of heart, but Yolande has pretty much resigned herself to a day in the house.

As the guests take to their seats, everyone is thrilled to see the happy couple walking down the aisle.

Has Oscar managed to change his mind?
