BACK WITH A BANG EastEnders icon makes shock return after 11 years and targets ex lover with cheeky remark

ELEVEN years after last being on-screen on EastEnders, Anthony Trueman has made his long-awaited return to Walford.

The character, who is played by Nicholas Bailey, returned on Monday’s episode and immediately made a beeline for a former flame.

He got out of a black cab outside of the Queen Vic and walked straight onto the path of his ex and the new pub landlord, Kat Moon.

Starting up a conversation with a suggestive remark, Anthony told Kat, who was holding a tub of ice cream: “Kat’s still got the cream I see.”

A shocked Kat responded: “Anthony, it’s been ages – come here,” as the former lovers enjoyed a warm embrace.

She added: “Oh look at you, Scotland’s treated you well,” as Anthony said: “Can’t complain, apart from the wife and two boys draining my wallet.”

“Same here,” the pub owner explained. “Except I’ve got three and an Alfie.”

He expressed: “That’s right, you were expecting twins. Three kids? Wow.”

Kat looked sheepishly on the ground as she continued: “And Zoe, you remember Zoe,” as he remembered: “Yes, I do.”

Attempting to change the topic, Anthony remarked: “I’m here for a few days, we should catch up,” as Kat told him she’s the landlady of the Queen Vic now.

Anthony took the opportunity to make a cheeky remark as he expressed: “Come a long way from the busty barmaid I used to know.”

Kat laughed but made a warning: “Oh watch it, I’m still just as mouthy.”

The pair’s conversation ended with the mum-of-four asking her ex if he was back to help his dad Patrick Trueman back on his feet after he was unknowingly attacked by Oscar Branning, leaving him shocked as he clearly was unaware.

EastEnders fans will remember Anthony enjoyed a romance with Kat (played by Jessie Wallace) back in 2002 before he went on to have an affair with her teenage daughter Zoe (played by Michelle Ryan).

After he admitted he was still in love with Kat, the two got back together and she discovered she was pregnant but decided to have an abortion.

She changed her mind and made the decision to keep the baby, but while on her way to tell Anthony about her pregnancy, she suffered a miscarriage.

The two ended up parting ways after Kat realised she didn’t want to be with him.

Anthony won’t be the only person Kat will be reuniting with as Zoe will be heading back to Walford later this year.

Actress Michelle reprised her role as Zoe earlier this year when it was revealed she was living with her cousin Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner).

Stacey called Kat’s husband Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) for help, where Zoe revealed she was on the run from men she owed money to.

Before they could help her, Zoe fled Stacey’s flat as Alfie left Walford to try and find Zoe in Spain, lying to Kat and telling her he was going to Australia to see his brother Spencer.

Alfie returned this month without Zoe in tow after being unable to find her, so it remains to be seen how she returns to Walford and what will happen when she’s reunited with her estranged mother.
