EastEnders’ Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) is met with a blast from the past next week when she comes face to face with her former flame, Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey)
Long time fans will remember when Kat very nearly became a Doctor’s Wife (or Married to Medicine, for the reality fans).
Despite repeated interventions from Anthony’s meddling mother, Audrey Trueman (Corinne Skinner-Carter), Anthony was determined to be with Kat and the two settled into a relationship.
Things were tumultuous to say the least, and when Kat decided to call time on their courtship, Anthony decided to keep it in the family…
Anthony receives a warm welcome from Kat
Anthony went on to have an affair with Kat’s daughter, Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan). The two became engaged, with Zoe even disowning her mother for not accepting their impending marriage.
It was clear, though, that all was not well with Anthony and he found himself sleeping with Kat again, behind Zoe’s back. Zoe later came to accept that his heart lay with her mum and stepped back, allowing them to reunite.
Kat later found herself torn between Anthony and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), and, following a miscarriage with Anthony’s baby, followed her heart all the way to Alfie.
When asked about how his alter-ego’s on-screen reunion with Kat goes, Nicholas said: ‘Kat gives him a very warm welcome which is great as she was a big part of his life.
There’s a lovely chemistry between them because Kat’s genuinely pleased to see him and vice versa – they’ve been through a lot together in the past. Anthony is really happy that Kat is in a good place and has Alfie and her boys. For me, it’s brilliant to work with Jessie again, we just picked up where we left off.’
Nicholas revealed that the first scene he filmed when returning to the show was between Anthony and Kat.
He said: ‘the first scene I filmed felt just like old times because it was with Jessie and I think we got it in one take because it felt so natural.’
Although both have their individual dramas, Anthony with dad Patrick Trueman’s (Rudolph Walker) trauma following his attack and Kat with her families secret attempts to reunite her with Zoe, their reunion looks set to provide a moment of levity amongst the chaos.
