EastEnders‘ Zoe Slater could be in for a reunion with a past flame – though a larger romantic twist may be on the cards too.

Michelle Ryan’s character is due to return to Albert Square full time soon, having recently made a brief comeback after 20 years.

Zoe, of course, has romantic history with Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey), who is due for his own soap comeback very soon – so could their flame be rekindled?

“I’m not sure for Zoe,” she told Radio Times, saying it is “kind of open season” for her character, though she did suggest it wasn’t beyond the realms of possibility.

“So I think there’s a chance, but there’s also a chance with other men,” Michelle further teased of a potential twist, while on-screen mum Jessie Wallace – aka Kat Moon – joked that “she’s game”.

Of course, Kat has her own romantic history with Anthony, and asked whether her character could get back together with her ex, Jessie noted: “I don’t think so, ’cause Kat just got married.”

Nicholas’s return to the role of Anthony was confirmed last month, with the character set to come back for dad Patrick’s wedding to Yolande.

“It is an unexpected treat to return to EastEnders and I’m full of gratitude to get the opportunity to revisit the character of Anthony,” the star said.

“It’s wonderful to work with Rudolph Walker again – he’s such a big part of my journey as an actor and I loved filming my first scenes with him after so long.

“I’m excited to see what the passage of time has done to Anthony and explore his relationship with Patrick at this stage in their lives.”
