Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) has been putting his foot in just about every ‘it’ he can find recently in Coronation Street, and things aren’t set to change.
Following his disastrous party that lead to numerous LSD-fuelled incidents, Aadi has embarked on a romance with Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), feeling responsible for the injury she suffered while under the influence of the drug.
Next came his even-more disastrous attempt at running his Dad, Dev Alahan’s (Jimmi Harkishin) beloved corner shop, leading to him running up thousands of pounds of debt and attempting to fix it with a burglary, which came to nothing – he hadn’t even been paying the insurance company he was planning to claim from!
Collaborating with his soon-to-be step mother, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazelgrove), the two attempted to use Dev’s Aunty Rani’s (Josephine Lloyd-Welcome) cash injection, meant for the wedding, to sort Aadi’s financial woes.
Some choice words from Dev’s acid-tongued Aunty to Bernie put an end to that plot, however, when, defending his soon-to-be-wife’s honour, he sends Rani packing!
Following the long-heralded tradition of soap weddings, Dev and Bernie’s big day is choc full of drama.
In the aftermath, Aadi comes clean to Dev about the extent of the financial mess he’s landed the shop in.
Later, a self-pitying and drunken Aadi knocks back the booze when Lauren tracks him down and as Dev and Bernie arrive home, it’s time for confession number two as he reveals to all that it was his fault Lauren took the LSD.
In the wake of these shocks, Aadi is feeling guilty for the mistakes he’s made and the stress he must have put on Bernie, and he gets drunk in Victoria Gardens.
Lauren eventually tracks him down there and he decides he has to come clean about what happened at the party. A furious Dev decides that Aadi is to be sent to India for a new start.
When Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) finds an utterly broken Aadi in Victoria Garden, she’s shocked to learn about his recent troubles, but comforts him, reassuring him that she knows he never meant to harm Lauren.
Heading back to No.1, Aadi admits to Amy that he wishes they were more than friends, and when Amy reveals that she feels the same way, sparks fly.
The post-coital after glow is short lived, however, when Jess Heywood (Donnaleigh Bailey) arrives to tell Aadi that she’s taking him to the station for questioning.
Is the romance between Aadi and Amy over before it every got chance to truly begin?
