Former Coronation Street writer Daran Little has shared some amazing unseen footage featuring a skit in which Vera Duckworth is cloned.
Sharing a clip to social media, Little explained that he wrote the special scene for the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was a fan of soap operas.
He wrote: “For those of you who love Corrie… sorry about the quality but I think I’ve got the only version left! Part of something special I wrote for the late Queen to watch (my first bf was her footman) with some old Coronation Street pals 20 years ago… set in 2055.”
Set in the future, the standalone clip, which is not part of Corrie canon, shows Jack Duckworth (Bill Tarmey) talking to a reporter about winning the lottery for the fourth time.
In the scene, Jack explains that he had his wife Vera, played by the late Liz Dawn, cloned, saying: “It was after the first time I had the wife cloned.”
After Vera confirms his story, Jack reveals that the Mrs Duckworth sitting next to him is not the original, saying: “Once you’ve had a clone, it’s no good keeping the original.”
Asked by the reporter how many Mrs Duckworths now exist, Jack says: “12. Each programmed to answer to specific needs.”
Following this revelation, he introduces “drinking Vera” and “bedtime Vera”, a much younger model, who Jack says he had “slightly modified”.
Ending the sketch, “cooking Vera” turns up at the pub, telling Jack that his dinner is ready. After she sits beside him, Jack is sandwiched in by two identical Veras.
“On the whole I would say I was a very contented man, very contented,” Jack says.
When “cooking Vera” complains about “slaving away over a hot stove”, Jack opens her arm up to reveal some wires and turns his wife off. “Like I was saying, very contented,” he quips.
Taking to the comment section, Little told fans that the scene he shared was just a short clip from a much longer segment, writing: “The whole thing runs for 15 mins and has a lot of cast in.”
Fans urged him to share the whole scene, with one fan penning: “Please upload it all.”
