Devastated Charity Dingle suffers a nasty fall in the woods on Emmerdale next week, spelling worrying consequences for her plan to become a surrogate for her granddaughter Sarah Sugden.
As Charity confides in her ex-partner Vanessa Woodfield, will she find the courage to tell Sarah that her baby dream could be over?
After Charity suggests a party to mark Sarah and Jacob Gallagher’s engagement, the Dingle family begin prepping The Woolpack for the special occasion.
However, Charity’s busy day takes a tragic turn when she feels the need to rush to the bathroom.
“Charity discovers that she’s bleeding,” explains our Emmerdale insider.
“She always knew there was a chance that Sarah’s embryo might not take, but she still went ahead with the fertility procedure in the hope that she could give her granddaughter one last chance to be a mother.
“To realise that she’s bleeding must be devastating, and it’s no wonder that she turns to Vanessa in her moment of heartache. They might not be a couple any more, but Vanessa knows Charity better than anyone.”
Earlier in the week, Charity and her husband Mackenzie Boyd head out on a walk through the woods, but Charity loses her footing and ends up taking a tumble.
With her fertility treatment in mind, Charity feels concerned, but ultimately convinces herself not to fixate on the fall. And when Sarah returns home, Charity commits to her decision to keep the day’s events to herself.
Although it doesn’t take long for Sarah and Jacob to continue fussing over their potential surrogate, which leads Charity to put forward the engagement party idea.
“It’s a distraction technique,” our source explains. “Charity’s putting her fears to the back of her mind, so she finds it irritating when Sarah and Jacob keep checking on her.
“And with the accident secretly on her mind too, she needs something to keep herself occupied. It makes it even more tragic that she discovers the bleeding before the party even begins.”
