Major EastEnders couple grow close in new pictures as love is declared

Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) decides to take a chance on love in EastEnders next week as he opens up to Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) about how he really feels about her.

The Walford legend, as viewers know, recently discharged himself from a mental health unit after a battle with depression, which saw him attempt to take his own life.

His return to the Square proved difficult, with the hard-man admitting that discussing his feelings with his loved ones has been one of the hardest parts of his recovery.Major EastEnders couple grow close in new pictures as love is declared | Soaps | Metro News

Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley), however, were both understanding and encouraged him to tell Sharon how he feels about her.

In emotional scenes on Monday (March 31), Phil comes to realise just how much Sharon cares about him after she organises a special Mother’s Day get-together for him, with the mothers of all his kids in attendance.

This comes after Nigel, who has been diagnosed with dementia, gets confused and believes Phil has gone missing, which sparks momentary panic.

Phil covers for his friend and enjoys a special afternoon with loved ones, which leads him to open up to his beloved Sharon about how she is his one true love.

The news leaves Sharon in shock but, as confirmed in new pictures of the scene in question, the former flames share a warm moment together.EastEnders legend 'to take break' from show following bombshell storyline - OK! Magazine

The question is: does Sharon still feel the same? Is she also keen for a reunion with her former beau?

The former Queen Vic landlady recently ended her relationship with Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) after spending the night with ex Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) – which Phil is still currently in the dark about.

Is she ready to embark on a new relationship with Phil? Or has their moment passed?

Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) has never been a man who wears his heart on his sleeve, but in EastEnders next week, audiences will see a rare moment of vulnerability as he finally decides to tell Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) how he truly feels about her.

For decades, the relationship between Phil and Sharon has been one of the Square’s most enduring and tumultuous storylines. They have been lovers, enemies, and confidantes, and even after years of betrayals and heartbreak, there has always been an undeniable connection between them. Next week, that connection resurfaces as Phil, following months of personal turmoil, finally takes a leap of faith and opens up about his love for Sharon.

Phil’s Emotional Recovery

Phil has recently been through one of the darkest periods of his life. After a battle with depression that culminated in him attempting to take his own life, he admitted himself into a mental health unit. This was a huge step for the hard-nosed Mitchell patriarch, who has always prided himself on being strong and resilient. For someone like Phil, admitting he needed help was no small feat.

Having discharged himself from the unit, Phil returned to Walford, but his recovery has not been easy. He has struggled to adapt to life back on the Square and has found it difficult to express his emotions, even to those closest to him. His relationship with his family has been strained, and while many have rallied around him, Phil’s own pride has prevented him from sharing what’s truly on his mind.

Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley), however, have been pivotal in encouraging him to confront his feelings. Both have urged Phil to be honest with Sharon, a woman who has been part of his life for over three decades, and someone who has consistently been there for him through good times and bad.

Sharon’s Unwavering Support

In upcoming scenes, Sharon organises a special Mother’s Day get-together for Phil. This heartwarming event sees the mothers of all Phil’s children come together, reminding him of the family he has built, despite the chaos that has often surrounded his life. Sharon’s thoughtful gesture touches Phil deeply and acts as a catalyst for his emotional breakthrough.

But the event isn’t without its drama. Nigel, who has been diagnosed with dementia, suffers a moment of confusion and believes Phil has gone missing, causing brief panic. Phil steps in to reassure his friend and covers for him, demonstrating that despite his own struggles, he still has the strength and compassion to look out for those he cares about.

This moment of clarity allows Phil to finally acknowledge just how much Sharon means to him. For years, he has buried his feelings, afraid of rejection or of complicating their already tangled history. But now, seeing Sharon’s unwavering support and kindness, Phil can no longer hold back.

The Big Confession

Phil tells Sharon that she is his one true love, and his words take her by surprise. Sharon, who has recently had her own romantic upheavals, is left stunned. She has just ended her relationship with Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) after a brief but intense fling, and on top of that, she shared a one-night stand with her ex-husband Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) – a secret she has kept from Phil.

This confession from Phil comes at a time when Sharon’s personal life is already complicated, leaving her unsure how to respond. The two share a warm moment, one that harks back to their long and storied history together, and it is clear that Phil still sees her as the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with.

Will Sharon Say Yes?

The big question now is: does Sharon still feel the same? Phil’s heartfelt confession could pave the way for a romantic reunion, but there are numerous obstacles in their path. Sharon has been through a lot emotionally, and while she clearly cares for Phil, there are questions about whether she is ready to move forward with him.

Her secret night with Grant looms large, and if Phil were to discover it, there is little doubt that it would shatter his trust. Moreover, Phil’s own recovery is still ongoing. Entering a romantic relationship when he is still emotionally vulnerable could put them both at risk of repeating past mistakes.

Yet, EastEnders fans know that Phil and Sharon have a way of finding their way back to each other, no matter how much pain they cause along the way. Their connection has stood the test of time, and Phil’s heartfelt declaration could be the spark that reignites their romance.

What Happens Next?

Whether Sharon accepts Phil’s love remains to be seen, but what is certain is that this storyline is set to stir up plenty of drama. With Teddy still lingering in the background and Grant’s secret encounter hanging over Sharon’s head, the potential for explosive fallout is high.

Fans have long debated whether Phil and Sharon are meant to be together, and next week’s episodes may finally give a glimpse of that answer. Will Sharon embrace Phil’s vulnerability and choose to be with him once again? Or will she decide that too much has happened between them for a reunion to work?

One thing is for sure: this is classic EastEnders storytelling at its finest – full of emotional weight, complicated history, and the kind of romantic drama that has kept fans hooked for years. And for Phil Mitchell, one of the Square’s toughest men, opening up about his feelings might
