Emmerdale star Lisa Riley has confirmed her future on the soap as Mandy Dingle.
The star first played Mandy between 1995 and 2001, and has since been back on the ITV soap since 2019.
In a new Instagram post, Riley reflected on how she first played the character 30 years ago, and reiterated her desire to stay in the village for as “many more years to come”.
Alongside a side-by-side of Mandy in 1995 and now, Riley wrote: “30 years ago today, I wore a bright lime green body suit, had something camp and spiked in my hair, Double Denim (before Bewitched) Buffalo trainers (before the Spice Girls).”
“Here I am smiling from ear to ear that I still have the joy of playing the role of Mandy Dingle,” she continued. “May I take this opportunity to thank all the incredible talent I’ve had the joy to work with, the crew up in Yorkshire I bloody adore you, the laughs, the days and days of non stop fun on the PAMPAMANDA set, our writers and producers who come up with script after script where I just love the scene.”
She concluded: “So grateful, so humbled and happy, but mostly giddy to bring more ‘Mandy Madness’ for many more years to come. Always learning, thank you to all the Emmerdale fans your support is incredible
“P.S. Dom, thank you beyond thank you, for embracing my bonkers… DAILY!!! Love ya to pieces.”
Recently, Riley admitted that everyone on the show is worried about their job security at the moment, in the midst of budget cuts at ITV and the upcoming episode reduction.
“We are all jobbing actors on the soap and there is never a day where we come in and go: ‘Oh we are safe’,” she said
