This article contains spoilers for Monday’s episode of EastEnders, which airs tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One or can be streamed now on iPlayer.

Oscar Branning (Pierre Moullier) has returned to Albert Square, and it’s already clear that he’s going to be a troublemaker.

The character, brother of Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and youngest child of their parents Max and Tanya (Jake Wood and Jo Joyner) has changed a lot since we last saw him as a sweet, naïve child in 2017.

Now ankle tagged and having spent three months in a youth offenders institution, he explained to his sister that he was going to have to go and live with her and fiancé Peter Beale (Thomas Law) because he’d been thrown out by Tanya.

She was furious that he’d been accessory to a car theft, and then subsequently grassed up his associates. In retaliation, one of the lads, Mike (Tai Hilferink) had petrol bombed their neighbour’s house.

As a result, Lauren didn’t really have an option but to accept him.

Peter is baffled by a home visit from the youth offending team, and subsequently marched down to the centre with dad Ian (Adam Woodyatt) to find out what was going on.

It wasn’t long before Oscar reacquainted himself with the Beales – throwing in numerous flirtatious comments to Peter – before the group ran into Mike and his gang.

Lauren and Peter attempted to challenge him, but upon realising they were carrying cricket bats, scarpered.
