After nearly two years off the air, Yellowstone fans are finally getting new updates—and Kelsey Asbille, who plays Monica, is teasing an “epic” ending for the beloved series.
In a recent interview, Asbille opened up about the final season, the secrecy surrounding production, and the possibility of a Kayce and Monica spinoff.
Asbille expressed how special it feels to approach the end of Yellowstone, saying she wants to be fully present for every moment.
When asked to describe the series finale in one word, she instantly replied, “epic.” She also hinted that showrunner Taylor Sheridan may have filmed multiple endings, keeping even the cast guessing about the true conclusion.
Reflecting on her character’s journey, Asbille noted how Monica and Kayce (played by Luke Grimes) have endured incredible hardship but remain fiercely devoted to family.
The last time fans saw them, they were contemplating running the Yellowstone ranch together and possibly expanding their family after a tragic loss. Asbille confirmed that Sheridan revealed the ending to her long ago but stayed tight-lipped about whether it’s a happy one, simply saying, “There’s just an ending.”
The secrecy on set was intense, with scripts often redacted except for each actor’s own lines. Still, Asbille admits she managed to sneak a peek at the full scripts, joking that she even tells her mom everything.
She described the final day filming with Grimes as “the most special day” and said the cast was so emotional, “we all ugly cried.”
When asked about the idea of a Kayce and Monica spinoff, Asbille was enthusiastic: “Of course, I love these people so dearly. I’m in.”
She praised Grimes for his performance in the final season, calling it “really Luke’s season,” and expressed pride in the evolution of their on-screen relationship.
Asbille also shared insights about the Yellowstone cast’s tight-knit bond, likening them to family after nearly eight years together. She revealed that Grimes recently became a father in real life, describing him as a “perfect dad” and “so generous and giving.”
The interview touched on the show’s legacy, with Asbille hoping that Monica and Kayce’s love story will be remembered for its “fierce devotion to family” and optimism for future generations. She also teased that the final season will feature some exciting new faces and surprise returns, though she kept specifics under wraps.
As for watching the finale, Asbille said she might join fans in front of the TV on premiere night, though she joked she’d need to visit Taylor Sheridan’s house since he’s so protective of the episodes.
With the series wrapping up and speculation swirling about a spinoff, fans are left eagerly anticipating what’s next for Monica and Kayce. One thing is clear: Kelsey Asbille is ready for more, and the Dutton legacy may continue in new and unexpected ways. Stay tuned!
