‘Yellowstone’ Actor Just Called Out a Major Plot Hole in the Show

A ‘Yellowstone’ actor has indeed called out a major plot hole in the show, specifically related to the death of his own character.

Josh Holloway, who played the villainous land developer Roarke Morris in Season 3 and early Season 4, questioned the quickness of his character’s demise. Roarke met a memorable end in the Season 4 premiere when Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) threw a rattlesnake from a cooler onto his face, leading to a seemingly instant death.

While the scene was undeniably dramatic and provided a satisfying moment of “poetic justice” for many viewers, Holloway himself admitted that he flagged the implausibility of such a rapid death to Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan before shooting.

In an interview with USA TODAY, Holloway recounted his conversation with Sheridan: “I said, ‘At least do the jugular, so we could at least say it was a direct shot. We could say that.’ And he was like, ‘But it looks better here.’ And I was like, ‘But I wouldn’t die that fast!’”

According to medical information, while rattlesnake bites can be fatal, fatalities typically occur hours after the bite without proper medical intervention, not within a matter of seconds. Holloway’s observation points to a moment where dramatic effect trumped realistic medical timing.
