Corrie fans issue single Daisy exit complaint after final scheming twist

Coronation Street fans have issued only one single complaint about Daisy Midgeley’s exit from Weatherfield – aside from being sad to see the character go.

It appears there could be no way back for Daisy and former step-mother Jenny Connor as she dealt one last blow before heading off for the other side of the world in one last scheming twist.

As fans of the ITV soap already know, Daisy was already plotting to get her own back on Jenny after she failed to tell her about her recent windfall, a cool £60,000, after her ex-husband, and Daisy’s dad’s, investment in her name years ago came to fruition.

With her mum Christina Boyd’s help, the pair resorted to catfishing under the guise of ‘Dom’. But when the man himself appeared, Daisy was thrown. She was also unaware that Christina plans to split the money with ‘Dom’, as she was actually seeing Jenny’s dodgy new fake suitor.

Earlier this week, Daisy was thinking of herself, after she let her mum take the rap for the catfishing of Jenny, after the truth came out about ‘Dom’ and the fake investment plan, and started to plot her exit.

The, during Friday’s (May 2) episode of Corrie, Daisy was seen packing up, with Jenny hoping of a change of heart. “It’s only Brighton, to start with anyway,” she said. She went on to have a heart-to-heart with Ryan Connor, in which she apologised ‘for everything’.

Daisy’s biggest heartbreak, however, was when she went to say goodbye to Bertie Osbourne, and to clear the air with her angry former fiancé, Daniel Osbourne. Jenny once again tried to change her mind, but Daisy’s decision was made.

However, shortly after, the penny dropped for both Jenny and Christina as it became clear Daisy had run off with the money Jenny thought she was investing in catfisher ‘Dom’.

As she jumped into her taxi, the car started to pull away down the cobbles when Daniel emerged. She stopped and gave him time to talk, but there was no way back for the formerly engaged couple, despite their clear love for one another. But with her mum, Christina Boyd, on her case, she made a hasty exit.

And it was soon clear why. As their final conversation was taking place, Christina was back in the pub, after spending a night in a cell, where she found Jenny in a panic with her bank account empty.

But she tried to make amends, leaving letters for a number of people on the Street with money and gifts for each of them, including Kit Green, who she left with a drink on her, and Daniel, who was being sent to Disneyland Paris with Bertie.

However, Jenny was dealt one last blow as Daisy left her nothing, just a goodbye note. “Goodbye, and for what it’s worth, I am sorry,” she wrote.

Then in one last twist, it was revealed that it wasn’t Brighton she was heading for, as she was seen checking her flights from Manchester to Bali, before asking the taxi driver to ‘turn up’ M People’s popular track, Movin’ On Up.

While many Corrie fans branded Daisy’s exit as ‘perfect’, there was one specific complaint. Alongside pictures of Jenny and Daisy, @daisysmidgeley said: “I am so going to miss THEM. i hate that it had to end with their relationship being destroyed. forget christina, that’s mother and daughter right there.”

@trevorsbrady shared: “To me her stealing all the money captured who she was when she first came into it and her sharing some of it with julie, daniel & bertie etc captured how much she’s matured & changed since then. HOWEVER them completely ruining jen & daisy’s relationship has royally f**ked me off.”

@Sam_LFC23 commented: “I hate Daisy and Jenny’s relationship has been ruined but it also leaves open a Daisy return should Charlie ever want to go back. At least she and Daniel parted on good terms so that eases that blow.”

@thatsmypeachx shared: “Daisy’s exit was brilliant!! The letters and gifts to people was a nice touch but I’m so sad about what they’ve done to her and Jenny #corrie.”

@Cafi2k added: “A pretty well done exit for Daisy in the end even if the majority of the catfishing story wasn’t great overall. I love that she took the money and gave some to Julie. Just wish her and Jenny could’ve parted on good terms. Some great eps this week! #corrie.”
