I Know He’S Laughing’: 1923 Star Imagines Late Co-Star’S Reaction To Season 2 Story

1923 star opens up about her late co-star’s likely reaction to their characters’ Season 2 storyline.

Speaking to Deadline, Aminah Nieves, who portrays Teonna Rainwater on the hit Yellowstone prequel series, responded to the question of whether she had been given any sort of heads-up regarding the living Hell her character experiences in Season 2 with, “No, [Taylor Sheridan] dind’t say anything.” She went on to note her initial excitement at the prospect of Teonna finding love in Season 2, recalling that she “sent it to Cole [Brings Plenty] and then he was so excited.”

“Then we both were kind of like, ‘oh shit, you’re like my brother now and we have to act intimate. I guess this is what actors do, how disgusting.’ So we had a moment together of like, oh, this is exciting,” Nieves continued. “I know he’s laughing. I know he is in the sky laughing hard right now. But yeah, I was so happy when I read the first episode to see that we were going to expand this other side of Teonna.” Cole Brings Plenty portrayed Pete Plenty Clouds in the first season of 1923 before being replaced in the role by Jeremy Gauan for Season 2. Cole tragically passed away in 2024 at the age of 27.

The second spinoff of creator and showrunner Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, 1923 stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as Jacob and Cara Dutton. The pair is joined by an ensemble cast including Brandon Sklenar as Spencer Dutton, Darren Mann as Jack Dutton, Robert Patrick as Sheriff William McDowell, and Timothy Dalton as Donald Whitfield. 1923 premiered in 2022 to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, with both its leads and the series itself being nominated for over a dozen major industry awards.

Taylor Sheridan’s Expanding Yellowstone Franchise Continues to Find Success

1923 star Jennifer Carpenter, who was introduced as Marshal Mamie Fossett in Season 2, recently discussed exactly why Sheridan’s Yellowstone franchise has become the resounding success that it is today. “I think that he’s reconnecting audiences to what it used to mean to tell stories on the viewer’s behalf,” Carpenter explained. “Even when I was in acting conservatory at 18 years old, it was always about the audience, and it feels like that again. It’s not about A plus B equals C, and now we can drag all of our credits up the screen. He’s earning every minute of your time, and that says a lot too, because it takes a lot to leave your family and dedicate yourself to something wholeheartedly.”
