The original series is available to stream on Paramount+, as well as its spinoffs. Following the success of 1883 on Netflix, the second prequel, 1923, is heading to the streaming service, too. Per What’s On Netflix, the Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren-led Yellowstone prequel 1923 Season 1 will be released on July 9.

Although the show will continue to be available on Paramount+ domestically, the Yellowstone universe is further expanding for international fans. 1923 will be available in different international territories, including Europe, Latin America, and more.

Yellowstone was the first to receive a licensing deal on Netflix in January 2024. The Sheridanverse continued with 1883, which found success on Netflix earlier this year. Now the second spinoff prequel is next. Details about Season 2’s release aren’t available at the time of press. The Sheridanverse also further expanded with non-Yellowstone titles, and the action thriller series Lioness also found success on the streaming service after licensing.

Aside from Ford and Mirren, 1923 stars Brandon Sklenar (It Ends With Us, Drop), Darren Mann (Animal Kingdom), Michelle Randolph (Landman), James Badge Dale (Hightown), Marley Shelton (Scream), Brian Geraghty (Big Sky), Aminah Nieves (Blueberry), Julia Schlaepfer (The Politician), Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones), Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Peacemaker), Sebastian Roché (Supernatural), and Timothy Dalton (License to Kill).

The show was a major hit with the critics, who gave it a near-perfect 95% approval for the two seasons, but the audience didn’t enjoy it as much. On the Popcornmeter, the spinoff has only 53%.

Will 1923 Continue?
Although Netflix will also release Season 1 of 1923, the series recently wrapped Season 2. However, the spinoff wrapped the story for the Dutton family by the end of the second and final season. Although the Yellowstone universe will continue, there are no plans for 1923 Season 3.

The Yellowstone universe will continue with 1944, another Yellowstone series. There is also an upcoming untitled 6666 project, the upcoming series The Madison starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Patrick J. Adams as members of the McIntosh family who live in the Madison River valley of central Montana. Luke Grimes is also set to reprise his role as Kayce Dutton in the upcoming Y: Marshals, one of the Yellowstone sequel series. Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton and Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler also have their own sequel show in the works.
