1. Joel Marshall lashes out at the Slaters after news on his absent mum

Ross brings Joel and Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) to work at the timber yard after advice from Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig).
But when Ross hears the language coming from the other workers, he’s concerned about the influence on the boys.
Ross later pales to get a call from Joel’s mum, and has to break the news to his son that she is getting remarried.
Joel slips out to hang out with Tommy at The Queen Vic, leading Tommy astray by stealing alcohol from the barrel store.
Ross, Vicki, Alfie (Shane Richie) and Kat (Jessie Wallace) confront the pair, but when Joel uses derogatory language towards Kat, the parents are shocked.
Ross and Vicki chastise Joel, with Ross trying to get through to his son.

Father and son bond over a video that Ross perceives an innocent from Joel’s idol influencer, but when Ross discovers something worrying on his laptop, he destroys it.
In the aftermath, Ross is cold with Joel and refuses to let him join him at work again.
Vicki is shocked to find out why Ross broke the laptop, and orders him to be firm with Joel before his behaviour spirals any further.

Ross has a heart-to-heart with Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) which gets him thinking, while Joel apologises to Kat and she allows him to hang out with Tommy.
Vicki and Stacey bond over parenting and men in The Vic, but an annoyed Joel overhears them and shows his true colours.
What does he do next?
And with Joel’s mum mentioned once more, could the theories over her true identity be proved correct?

Howie and Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) clash after she discusses his money troubles with Denise Fox (Diane Parish), while Yolande calls the wedding off over Patrick’s lies.
Later, Oscar breaks into the Trueman-Fox home to steal Patrick’s winnings, but Patrick catches him in the act and Oscar pushes Patrick, who falls to the floor unconscious.
In a panic, Oscar makes to leave just as Howie returns. Oscar has to hide and make a run for it, and Howie doesn’t spot his face.

The family are stunned to return from The Vic to find Patrick injured, while Lauren is suspicious of Oscar’s concern for Patrick.
As the teen tries to flee Walford, she confronts him over the stolen money.
At the hospital, Yolande, Denise and Kim wait for news on Patrick, while Howie gives a statement to the police.
